It isn't mandatory or a rule to stay fashionable at any stage of life. Yet it is important if it makes you happy. After all, "Look good, feel good"
Especially in pregnancy, all you need is to feel beautiful and comfortable in your clothes!
While I understand that pregnancy isn't easy, looking and feeling good all the time can be challenging. As women, our bodies undergo changes throughout our lives. This begins with menstruation. It is difficult to find the right size and fit when your body grows every month during pregnancy. Eventually, you may find it a lengthy and stressful activity that may drive you crazy and irritable, and you may end up buying something you don't care about just to end it.
But just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you want to look like a sack of potatoes! You always have the right and chance to do Fashion for your own happiness!
Style is for everyone. No filters for age, gender, or size here. That's a misconception we have in our country. Women are more likely to ignore their appearance after getting married or pregnant thinking
" Ab kon dekhega?"
It should be for your mental health and peace. To experience freshness and positivity in difficult times when you may feel blue. And your clothes can help you here.
So being a stylist, I am sharing some simple ways to stay stylish in pregnancy for Indian women!
1) Shopping - To avoid the physical effort Online shopping is the best option. Do it at your own comfort, time, and place. Feel relaxed when you shop. Take a break, no need to do it in one go.
2) Fabrics- While shopping or getting ready understand that the pregnant lady can feel the temperature difference that others (too hot or too cold). So fabric plays an important role when the weather is considered. Fabrics suitable for maternity wear of Indian women are cotton, linen, wool, denim.
3) Styles and trends - Do not blindly follow any trend just because someone else is wearing or recommending it. Consider if it fits and flatters you. Choose what suits you best. Consider hiring a stylist to help you plan your wardrobe for the next 12 months (including some post-pregnancy months) since they will analyze your Personal Style and help you shop for the right products within your budget. Listed below are some maternity styles that are suitable for everyone.
Ethnic Maxi Dress
Stretchable Shrug/ Cardigan
Short A-line Kurti
Palazzo Pants
Denim Jeans
4) Colors - Choose your colors wisely. Your colors say a lot about you. Also, some fresh bright colors can lighten up your mood and give you some energy to take over the day. Colors like pink, yellow, violet are preferable. Or even ivory or some soft pastels. Avoid earthy, neutral tones or any dull color for that matter.
5) What you should not wear when pregnant - A big NO to excessively tight-fitting clothes, as anything too tight can restrict blood flow to your growing bump which is obviously not safe.
Fabrics like leather, sequins, or any heavy embroidered work, net. Anything that may make you feel too hot, itchy or tear, or is just uncomfortable to move in.
High heels, would be the worst item to wear when pregnant. It may cause your feet swelling as already your posture has changed because of baby weight which falls on your legs. So do not hurt them more and go for flat comfy shoes or chappals in these times.
