What's your take on fast fashion ending?

Wait, but what is fast fashion? It describes cheap, stylish, mass-produced clothes that hugely impact the environment. Zara and H&M are two of the most prominent fast fashion examples. Fast fashion encourages shoppers to update their wardrobes regularly throughout the year to keep up with ever-changing trends.

Why is this trend ending now?
What is the environmental impact of the clothes I wear?
How these clothes are manufactured?
What is the material and fabric that has been used?

Have these questions ever crossed your mind?

These questions have led to the emergence of a hot topic in the fashion industry i.e. Sustainability.

Fast fashion uses cheap, hazardous material and avoids the ethics to make big-time profits.

It is the reason behind the fashion industry's second rank among the largest polluters in the world. But now, efforts are being made by the fashion industry to eliminate the consumption of such fashion.

Gen Z and Millennial shoppers, in particular, wanted to align themselves with brands that are working towards sustainability and are aware of the environmental concerns that fashion produces. Most fast fashion brands are introducing slow fashion lines to address this new set of customers.

Slow fashion means that you can wear your garments for a longer period and they will not go out of style, which is becoming an alternative to fast fashion. In short shop less, and wear more. This usually helps in boosting sustainability and bring change among the younger generation.

How you can follow Slow Fashion?

1. Treat fashion like food - To avoid waste and toxins, check labels to ensure they are of good quality, devoid of toxins, and organic if possible.

2. Become a Smart Shopper- Investigate before you buy. Maintain a personal style to avoid shopping on every trend.

3. Declutter & Create a Slow Fashion Closet. A capsule wardrobe is key.

4. Take Care of Your Clothes to Make Them Last.

5. Thoughtful, Thrifting, and Thriving- opting for second-hand items and shopping at thrift stores.

6. Sell, Borrow, Trade, Tailor, Repair, Repurpose, and Donate.

Embrace thoughtful and sustainable slow fashion as soon as possible and become a smart and wise shopper!
